Second chin

The second chin, or layer of fat under the chin, is a problem that can occur in anyone, regardless of weight. It is usually the result of genetics, aging skin, overweight or poor posture.

Main causes of formation:

  • Genetics: Unfortunately, some things we get as an inheritance from our parents, and one of them may be a second chin.
  • Age: As you age, your skin loses elasticity and your muscles become weaker. As a result, they begin to droop, leading to a second chin, even if you are in good shape.
  • Overweight: Excess weight can indeed contribute to this problem.
  • Bad posture: Spending hours in front of a computer with your head bowed not only spoils your spine, but also promotes the formation of a second chin. That's because the neck muscles are underused and become flabby.

In addition to exercise and a healthy diet, aesthetic medicine offers several effective treatments:

  • Injection lipolysis: This is a procedure in which fat-dissolving substances are injected under the chin. The fat is then naturally excreted from the body.
  • Cryolipolysis: The procedure involves freezing fat cells, which are then gradually removed by the body.
  • HIFU lifting: It uses ultrasound to tighten the skin and reduce fat in the chin area.

In conclusion, the second chin does not have to be your constant companion. A little work on yourself and you can successfully reduce it.
