Dilated capillaries
Dilated blood vessels, or the popular "spider veins", are not only a problem for women. They can also appear in men, especially on the face, neck or legs. Where do these unwanted threads come from and how can they be effectively removed?
Why do dilated blood vessels appear?
There are several reasons for this, the most common being:
- Genes: If someone in your family has a vascular problem, there's a good chance you could inherit it, too.
- Sun: UV radiation damages the capillaries, making them more visible.
- Temperature changes: Too frequent changes from hot to cold can weaken the capillaries.
- Diet and alcohol: Spicy foods, red wine or stronger liquors make the vessels dilate.
- Stress: Nerves can cause redness, which perpetuates dilated blood vessels over time.
- Age and hormones: As we age, the skin loses elasticity, making the capillaries more visible.
What treatments can help?
Here are some proven methods:
- Laser therapy: The laser closes the capillaries, working precisely and safely. The effects can be seen almost immediately, so it's one of the most popular treatments.
- IPL (Intense Pulsed Light): Treatment using intense pulsed light. It works gently and is great for people with sensitive skin.
- Sclerotherapy: It works mainly on the legs. A special preparation injected into the vessel makes it close from the inside. It's a slightly more invasive option, but the results are really good.
Dilated capillaries are a problem , which can look unattractive. If it has appeared in you as soon as possible contact a dermatologist.
